01 What is Nanbu Senbei?

Nanbu senbei is widely eaten in the Hachinohe and northern Iwate regions. It is a simple yet flavorful food made of dough kneaded from a mixture of flour, salt, and water, and baked in a round mold. The Hachinohe senbei soup, which has become famous as a local delicacy, uses a special “otsuyu senbei” that does not easily fall apart after simmering, and various flavors of nanbu senbei are now available.

03 Nanbu Senbei Tegata's Commitment

Nanbu Senbei bills are made from Aomori hiba, one of the three most beautiful woods in Japan, and each one is handcrafted by local artisans into the same shape as a real Nanbu Senbei. Because Aomori hiba only grows in harsh, snowy environments, its wood grows slowly over a long period of time, giving it a special, beautiful grain and aroma. Each Nanbu Senbei Handprint is unique and a perfect souvenir of your visit to Aomori as it is one-of-a-kind. Get a Nanbu Senbei Handprint and enjoy Aomori’s beautiful nature and craftsmanship.
